Description: Thallus is an elliptical, thin brown blade to 80 cm (31 in) long, with a puckered appearance, scattered, irregular holes and a faint midrib basally. The holdfast is of narrow, branched haptera; the stipe is flattened, 2-6 cm (1-4 in) long and has numerous projections (fimbriations) along the margin. Habitat: This perennial is usually found in the subtidal zone to 20 m (66 ft) depth in semi-protected to semi-exposed habitats. Similar taxa: Agarum clathratum.
