Description: Thallus is light to dark brown; it averages 30 cm (12 in) but can reach 50 cm (20 in) tall. The long, sparse branches are slender like the main axis, smooth, and quite firm; they are arranged irregularly and rarely branch themselves. Habitat: This annual is found on rock in the low intertidal, including tidepools, and prefers protected to semi-exposed habitats. Dictyosiphon sinicola is a common epiphyte. Similar taxa: Desmarestia, Dictyosiphon.
