Description:
Lichen thallus creamy white to pinkish gray. It can be fairly thick and form extensive patches or even bands. Reproductive structures such as soredia are not produced. Visible hemispherical cephalodia (irregular wart-like structures containing cyanobacteria) are scattered across the lichen’s surface. Habitat: This lichen will form a white band in the supratidal, frequently on north-facing granitic rock or shaded by overhanging trees, just above the Black Seaside Lichen (Hydropunctaria maura and other Verrucaria-like species.
