Description: Thallus is medium to dark red, soft and slippery, narrow and straplike, to 20 cm (8 in) tall and 1.5 cm (0.6 in ) wide but usually much shorter, branched or unbranched, with fringe-like laterals. Habitat: This species has a faint midrib and veins, which are not always evident. It occurs on low intertidal rock or in mid tidepools in exposed to semi-protected habitats of the outer coast.
